LIZZIE JONES

Spearheading a new campaign

"I Knew I was going to marry Danny from the first time we went out. Losing him that day devestated the family. It just didn't occur to me that a seemingly fit & healthy athelete like Danny could ever be struck down with a heart condition. It goes to show that it can happen to anyone."

Singer Lizzie Jones is spearheading a new campaign to raise funds for equipment that could prove the difference between life and death at Rugby League clubs across the UK.

Lizzie, who reduced a Wembley crowd to tears and moved millions of TV viewers with an emotional performance at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award, has today (Sunday February 14) launched the Danny Jones Defibrillator Fund named in honour of her late husband.

SUPPORT US

Half a million have genetic heart defects

The heart charity says in the UK as many as one in 120 people are born with a faulty gene which could lead to potentially deadly conditions such as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and familial hypercholesterolemia.

It means in the UK as many as 500,000 people are living with one of these genetic defects.

We rely entirely on donations and fundraising to help clubs purchase defibrillators from grass roots to Super League, saving the lives of our players.
