LIFE-SAVING DEFIBRILLATOR AND A BIG WIN DELIVERED FOR THE NCL CLUB

This week's rugby-league.com Club of the Week is Featherstone Lions, after they enjoyed success both on and off the pitch this weekend. The West Yorkshire club became one of the first recipients of a life-saving Defibrillator through the Danny Jones Defibrillator Fund on Saturday, before going on to secure their place in the Conference Challenge Trophy quarter finals with an impressive 42-12 demolition of local NCL Division One rivals, Normanton Knights, later that day.Lizzie Jones, wife of Danny who tragically died of an undiagnosed heart condition while playing for Keighley Cougars last year, visited The Mill Pond to present the Lions with their Defibrillator.

Then, the club's NCL outfit then took on Normanton in the second round of the Conference Challenge Trophy with Gareth Gale and Jake Perkins both scoring twice, alongside a 14-point haul for Man of the Match Ian Jackson, as they eased past a side they sit level on points with in the NCL's second tier.

The only effective treatment for a person who has suffered a sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) is the combined administration of CPR and the use of a defibrillator.

The Danny Jones Defibrillator Fund aims to raise money that will help hundreds of community clubs and junior teams across the country to purchase a defibrillator, while helping raise awareness of the value of defibrillators as life saving devices to community clubs.

Defibrillators cost around £1,000 each and provide potentially life-saving treatment to anyone suffering a cardiac arrest.

Birkenshaw Blue Dogs also received a Defibrillator this week

Clubs can purchase a defibrillator from RFL-recommended WelMedical by clicking HERE.
